Part of the DRS consolidation wave

Part of the DRS consolidation wave
DRS 3 elaborated the OPTIONAL segment reporting a Konzernabschluss may include under §297(1) sentence 2 HGB, established in the earlier HGB poster series. As with the cash flow statement, sector-specific companion standards existed for credit institutions (DRS 3-10) and insurers (DRS 3-20), given how differently a bank's or insurer's own "segments" are naturally defined compared to an ordinary trading enterprise. An early amendment (DRÄS 6, 2016) folded the sector-specific content DIRECTLY into DRS 3 itself, withdrawing 3-10/3-20 as standalone documents at that point – a preview of the fuller consolidation to come.

Why withdrawn – a genuine philosophical shift, not just a renumbering

Why withdrawn – a genuine philosophical shift, not just a renumbering
DRS 3 was replaced from fiscal year 2021 by DRS 28, which represents a more substantive change than most of this consolidation wave: DRS 28 explicitly TRANSPLANTS IFRS 8's own "management approach" to segment reporting – defining segments based on how the enterprise's own internal management actually organises and reports its business, rather than a more rigid, externally-imposed segmentation scheme. This is a genuinely interesting convergence point: even for a VOLUNTARY, HGB-native disclosure with no direct legal mandate, the DRSC chose to align its own recommended approach with the international IFRS methodology.
